I got this quote over at Fandom-
"Were definitely projecting (the Rogue)limited series as being a strong enough performer that a monthly book will follow,"Powers said."Thats part of the reason we're doing those limited series,to see if any of those characters can sustain an ongoing book".
ie.the Rogue,Angel,Storm,NIGHTCRAWLER and Cyclops mini's,ofcourse.
So the possibility of an ongoing Nightcrawler series? As much as I love Nightcrawler I honestly dont think he can carry his own book. And Im not sure if I want him to.He might become as convoluted and boring as Wolverine has been lately.Honestly I dont think any of these characters could carry they're own book, and yes not even the all mighty "southern bell"-god I hate that reference.I miss when Rogue used to come off as a truck driver in her early days.Something I dont understand is that Gambit was just as popular as Rogue, yet they decided to cancel his series, this really doesnt make sense.Anyway back on topic....
Would you like to see a regular series starring Nighty?

I don't wanna sound like a downer or anything, but I don't think that they should turn the mini into an ongoing. I fthey really think that he can pull it off they should just extend the mini, one story arc at a time. So that it could be "cancelled" after any given story arc. But at least then there wouldn't be EVEN MORE loose ends.I really don't think that Kurt can carry his own series, and I really hoped that they wouldn't use the Mini as a way to possibly launch an Ongoing because I want some of the friggin' loose ends taken care of, and I want to see "Father Kurt" go the way of the dodo in this Mini. I mean, where better to get rid of that aspect? I like what BAMF! ( I think) said about Kurt, though. He's tailor made for some cool 007 type spy stuff. I think that if that's how they toned the series it might make it. Anyone else have any ideas? Obviously to have a successful ongoing you have to set a theme for the series besides just the character.

I like the idea of a nighcrawler series. Downright excited actually, I'd really like to see Kurt bopping around alternate dimensions like in the old Excalibur days, or going all over the place, looking for links to the past or something. I don't really know but the thought of having Adam Hughes and Alan Davis on one book is enough to make anyone drool.

Yeah KNIGHT_CRAWLER! I mean it would be such a TOTAL change of pace from what they have going on right now. Kurt is known as the 'Swashbuckling X-MAN' after all. I would definitely enjoy the 007 action angle or even an 'Indiana Jones' type take on the series.
Oh and ditto X-GIRL about Davis and Hughes!

Your right BAMF! with the right creative team Im sure it can turn out to be a good book. But for how long? Before the writer runs out of ideas and makes Kurt the 3rd Summers brother?I just dont want the character to become convoluted. It would be inevitable eventually. If Kurt were to suffer from over-exposure and bad writing we might end up hating him.I would rather see Marvel make the best of him in the X-Men.But I wouldnt mind a one-shot here and there.

Naw, you dont worry too much DRAGS ya just care a lot about the character! I agree with you on not wanting the book to eventually fizzle.
'MIT, SPATCH, and KC would probably be better able to gauge this, but I think GAMBIT's title is sorta suffering from what youre afraid might happen to Kurt. SCROCE and NICIEZA started the series off with such a 'BANG'. After SCROCE left though I felt like the book started to lose some steam.
If we could get a SOLID creative team to commit to more than just a handful of issues I believe nightcrawler would have NO problem carrying his own book!
Otherwise like you n' KC implied better to not even 'tease' us with the prospect.

While i can't wait for the NC limited series, i don't think Kurt's character is suited to an ongoing solo title.
The reason is, he's very much a team player.
The reason Wolverine, Cable, Gambit, and Bishop can have their own titles is that they're all the sort of aloof loners that are likely to wander off on their own and have private battles.
While Nightcrawler has had some outstanding stories where he's been seperate from his teammates(the orinal mini, his run-ins with Arcade, the current Magik LS...) he shines best when he's interacting with others.

DRAGONLADY that is some AWESOME NEWS!!
I think Kurt could EASILY carry his own book. It's just a question of whether or not they assign a quality creative team to it. Characters with WAY less history and (I believe) far less story potential were awarded their own books ( Bishop, X-man ) to mixed results.
I realize the general belief is that Nightcrawler is a perpetual supporting character.
I think that with his rich X-history, still VERY mysterious past, and starting supporting cast (Magik, Margali, Logan, Mystique, Astra, Judith Rassyndl (SP?), Kitty and all of his old Excalibur teammates to name a few ) he would do AWESOME given the right creative team.
Hey, if you would have told me a few years back that a comic starring the Masters of Evil would be among my MOST anticipated reads every month I would have called you crazy.
But THUNDERBOLTS is one of my favorite comics right now not so much because i'm a big fan of the characters, but because Busiek, Nicieza, and Mark Bagley have done such a kick-a@@ job with it from day one.
Kurt wont have half a chance to make a case for his own book if the creative team for the LS suck. If someone who doesnt really grasp the character or his potential just hacks out a story, then I'd rather not even give Kurt the mini.
But can you imagine a Best-case dream scenario where ALAN DAVIS got to write it and ADAM HUGHES got to draw it...
WoW.
If Davis' writing was back to his Excalibur and JLA: The Nail form, and Hughes could duplicate the look from the X-MEN Wildcats crossover...the mind boggles at how awesome the book would be!
Hopefully Quesada and the x-offices realize this and give each character the BEST chance to make a great impression. ie: PUT QUALITY PEOPLE ON THE TITLES!
(sorry for the ranting everyone..i'm just excited and scared at the same time at the thought of Kurt getting his own book!)
BAMF!

As much as I would like to see an ongoing NC series. With the current state of flux the X titles are in, I don't think its a good idea. And a bit hypocritical to say canceling a buch of the current line due because there are too many X titles. ONly to replace the canceled titles with new X titles. Hmmm?
I definately agree with earlier statements, NC staring in a few LS story arcs would probably be better in the long run. Keeps from over saturation and over kill. Which is basically one of the reasons for the decline of the market in the 90's.
